Expected better from Holiday Inn
We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Brighton last weekend; our AirBnB cancelled on the morning of our planned stay but we were pleasantly surprised to be able to secure two rooms at the Holiday Inn, an eye watering £299 per room but hey, it saved the weekend.
The stay was not a dead loss, the rooms were a bit spartan but clean and the bed linen fresh, and the bathroom was new with a good shower head, plentiful hot water and fluffy towels.
But:
The room key didn't work. Twice. Two trips down to reception. Third time we made someone from Reception come up to us.
Aircon in the room was non-existent, it was a hot day and it was hotter in the room than outside. I mean REALLY hot. Awful. The hall ways and communal areas by comparison were fine. I have seen from other reviews that this a common theme. Lets speculate then that in their UK hotels Holiday Inn install a dummy aircon unit in bedrooms which switches on a fan but does nothing to change the temperature. I could be wrong but then again I could be spot on.
The room windows were filthy, and I mean really filthy, like an abandoned building that hadn't been cleaned in 20 years.

The staff were friendly and helpful, but the help they could provide was limited and bright smiles can only go so far.

For £299 per night I expect an overall better experience.

RUN from Holiday Inn 4th St Nashville
I allowed PMC to valet my car at the Holiday Inn, 4th St, Nashville. The next morning my keys were missing. The hotel had no idea who had the keys, who had worked valet the night before, or how to contact the valet. Valet management arrived 2 hours later and said, “Everyone makes mistakes. The valet JUST took the keys home with him. But we can’t reach him.” Seriously?! That’s the explanation and justification? That attitude certainly explains why the Holiday Inn valet service is a disaster. 3 hours later a key was made and PMC returned our car. We did not get back our automobile key or the other keys on the ring. Word to the wise, do not stay at Holiday Inn 4th St/Nashville and/or entrust your car to PMC for valet services.

Worst staying ever Holiday Inn-Bolton
Worst staying ever
Holiday Inn-Bolton is the worst
Room was like a sauna in a the hot weather and curtain lights were on all night

I, my wife and young kids could not sleep.

The night staff were amazing but the room quality is the worst. Imagine this was executive suit.

Find another hotel, don’t come near to this hotel

We stayed at the holiday inn in Maple…
We stayed at the holiday inn in Maple Grove Minnesota on June 4,5 and 6 2022.
There was three adults. They told me when I booked there were two queen size beds and a pull out. Turns out the pull out was a chair. One small bar of soap and two towels for three of us.
NO COFFEE, NO COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST. If you wanted breakfast it was $16. No coffee at all.
The grounds were poorly kept.
I felt ripped off as the room was $236 a night. Ridiculous! Will never darken their doors ever again. Many nicer places nearby as we discovered. STAY AWAY.

DEEPLY Avoid Holiday Inn Gloucester!!
The rooms drains don't clear, so you are standing in scum or cannot spit in the sink. The kettle is set where there is insufficient light- Health and Safety issue. Couldn't even clean bathroom properly. While we were out.
No extractor fan in bathroom!! They overbooked for breakfast, so, we didn't get any!! Don't expect compensation!! No place for veggie dinner - A sad £1 pizza base from Sainsburys with tomatoes and cheese thrown on it. Great service, manager told me not my problem you didn't get breakfast. Sorry doesn't pay. Mercure is 10 times better.

Would not recommend the holiday inn…
Would not recommend the holiday inn Belfast, on Hope street.
Really disappointed with our recent service.
I had contacted them weeks prior to my sisters hen party to book a table for 20 guests ! Firstly they weren’t very good at getting back to me and I had to contact them twice to get us booked in. But on the second attempt I got speaking to the manager Tony and he got us put in the diary for 8.30pm.
On the date of the hen party We arrived at the hotel desk at 8.25pm only to be told our booking was cancelled two days prior by some random guy and that they didn’t have any tables available for us.
Gutted and disappointed as by this stage as everyone was starving, I asked the deputy manager Curtis can he sort out something out for us. He said no if we wanted a table we would just have to wait and he wouldn’t have a table to accommodate all 20 of us and that we would just have to sit and eat separately! I am really disappointed as I feel I let everyone in our party down. I am so mad at the holiday inn as they should not have accepted a cancellation from some random man cancelling a hen party. It was booked under my name and my contact details so only I should be able to cancel the booking if I needed too. But I never cancelled anything. So why listen to a stranger without checking with me first. Never once did Curtis apologise for the hotels fault nor did he try to resolve the issue. He never offered us any where to sit and wait , wasn’t offered any complimentary drink nor even tried to sort us out with a table nor give us a rough time as to when we could eat as it was just when any tables became available. I wanted to walk out the door only I knew no where else would have taken us so late and with such a big party!
By 9.20pm we were still waiting and 7 girls from our party have left as they couldn’t wait any longer. 10mins later they cleared a table but only enough to fit 10 so 3 of us had to sit at another table.
Food didn’t get served until 9.57 pm and wasn’t great to be honest.
The hotel did nothing to resolve this issue. Didn’t offer us anything to resolve the matter ! It totally ruined the ending to my sisters hen party.
I have contacted the hotel three times after the date of the hen and they said they would ring me back to find out who cancelled the hen party and I am still awaiting a phone call a week and a half later.
I Will never be back through their door.

Unhelpful and friendly
Booked an overpriced hotel stay in London this month (20th) and are refusing to support with medical conditions I've outlined (not even a major request, Just a request for a twin room or an extra bed in the room - which is impossible apparently). First time I've stayed in a holiday Inn due to hearing of other people's experience but thought I'd give them a try, it's certainly the final time

I stayed in the holiday inn Aylesbury
I stayed in the holiday inn Aylesbury.

Very poor. The room is so cold and there is no ability to turn the heating on during the ‘warmer’ months. It was beautiful outside but the room was so cold that I asked for a portable heater. A portable radiator was delivered to my room promptly but it failed to generate any heat. I was so cold I had to lay in a warm bath just to keep warm.

The standard of the room overall was lower than expected and There are other budge hotels which provide a superior room and comfortable bed.

The staff were all fantastic, helpful and worked really hard.

In summary though, being that cold is not fun and had it not been through work I would have checked out the first evening and found somwhwre better.

Great customer service.
Hi, I spoke with Makley Austin and she was absolutely a pleasure to work with. I asked her a few questions about Georgia as well as the booking. The customer service was amazing and she was very pleasant and joyful to speak with. I have a family emergency and I had to call back and cancel my reservation she answered the phone again weeks later and she was so polite. She was apologetic and assisted me with such great customer service.

Business Customer Warning
Business Customer Warning: Holiday Inn do not supply a receipt as default. You have to request one at checkout. If you do not you must contact reception later to have it emailed - they do not email invoices as standard even for members. Alternatively after 20 days (!) an invoice will appear in your membership account.
The Holiday inn is a reasonable hotel, nothing special but does the job.

WARNING TO IHG LOYALTY MEMBERS
WARNING TO IHG LOYALTY MEMBERS

Having been an IHG One Rewards loyalty member for years and I recently booked a points & cash room at one of their hotels in the UK.
I phoned the booking number on the IHG website and got through to the UK call centre. The customer service representative quoted me a price for the room in £'s, there was NO MENTION of USD $'s and I therefore agreed to the booking. I was quoted a price for part in loyalty points and part in £'s.

When I received my card statement I saw that and I had been charged a foreign transaction fee because IHG had completed the transaction in USD $'s despite quoting the price for the room during the booking process in £'s.
In all the times I've booked with IHG/Holiday Inn I have always been charged in £'s and I have NEVER been charged a foreign transaction fee by my bank.

I WASN'T even told I was being charged in USD $'s on the phone when I made the booking.

IHG's response to my complaint was pretty poor (so much for loyalty). They told me it was their policy to charge in USD $'s when a booking was made using points & cash and sent me a link to their Terms and Conditions-item 67 of 96 conditions in total. Item 67 is not written in layman's terms and does not warn customers that they may incur a charge with their bank as a result.

Staff taking bookings using loyalty points should NOT assume that customers have read all 96 of the terms and conditions and I would think it was courtesy to warn/remind LOYALTY customers that they will be charged in USD $'s (which might be a currency other than the currency of their country of residence and the country in which the hotel the customer has made the booking for is situated).

I was NOT told I would be charged in USD $'s nor was I asked if this was ok-you'd think that this would be common courtesy in view of the fact the majority of banks charge a foreign transaction fee for USD $'s in the UK.

I'm quite shocked at IHG's attitude to my complaint to be honest, because at every opportunity (on the phone, in messages and in hotels) they are telling me that they appreciate my loyalty since 2015....obviously not enough to refund my foreign transaction fee and charge loyal customers in £'s when they are redeeming loyalty points and live in and book in the UK.

I think it's time to take my custom elsewhere and cut up my loyalty card.

Beware when you use your points that…
Beware when you use your points that you have earned when staying at their hotels, if you don't have enough points and have to pay towards your stay even though you would have always payed in uk pounds they will convert your pounds into US DOLLARS and your bank will then charge you for them doing this. So your loyalty points you have built up will cost you a fee, this is shocking when you have been a loyal customer they take all your money in pounds, you stay in one of their hotels in the UK then you try to use your points towards a stay and they charge you in US DOLLARS ??. SHAME ON YOU HOLIDAY INN UK.
